Project 1

Sound Detective

Game Design | Technical Experiment

Sound Detective is a music game I designed with three scenes: my room, a high-speed train, and a school lab. These scenes represent my journey from home to school. Players interact with everyday objects to collect timbres and reconstruct an audio clip. The game encourages players to realize that music isn’t limited to instruments but exists all around us.

Project 2

Independent Traditional Drum Research

Research Paper

My independent research examines how materials of drumhead influence its tone, resonance, and harmonic behavior, and I also tried to generate two different frequencies from a single strike. Through waveform and frequency analysis, I discovered that subtle structural variations can enhance sound purity and dynamic range. Later, I applied these findings to the traditional drums used in Zhuji’s Xilu Luantan opera, integrating acoustic physics with craftsmanship and culture, allowing scientific research to contribute to the preservation of culture heritage.

Project 3

Original Music Works

Sound Design | Composition

I explored and created a wide range of musical styles. From notating with staff paper to producing with DAWs, music production allows me to integrate emotions into sounds and shape ideas into my own voice. One of my favorite works, Find the Way, is dedicated to my friends and the ones I love. It’s about healing, hope, and the courage to keep finding the way forward.

Project 4

Comparative Study of Xilu Luantan and European Operetta

Research Paper

My independent research conducts a comparative study of Zhuji Xilu Luantan, a local folk opera from Zhejiang, China, and European operetta. By analyzing musical structure, narrative strategies, and performance contexts, I examine how different musical theatre traditions engage audiences and function within their social environments. With field research, heritage documentation, and scholarly sources, I explore how accessible musical language and clear storytelling allow these forms to mediate between everyday social life and artistic expression. This study connects ethnomusicological analysis with cultural heritage studies, offering a cross-cultural perspective on popular musical theatre and its role in sustaining community identity.

Project 5

Performance: Stage & Live Shows

Performance Art / Collaboration

Since 2011, I’ve performed as a pianist in recitals and ensemble concerts, gradually stepping onto larger stages with more composure and confidence. I’ve also taken masterclasses with renowned professors to refine my technique. Beyond piano, I’ve explored singing, band performance, DJ controllers, and percussions, each expanding how I understand music and increasing my passion for music.
